Dear Minneapolis United Family,
On June 16, 2017, MU lost John Sylvester after a long struggle with ALS. John, “Sly” to his friends, was with MU for over 14 years and a fundamental building block of the club. He loved the game and all the kids whose lives he touched as a director, trainer, and coach. From him, we learned how to be better athletes and better human beings.
To compound this tragedy, at the time of John’s death his wife, Tessie (36), mother of their two sons Gus (5) and Freddy (6), was diagnosed with a very serious form of cancer. She will have chemotherapy to try to keep it at bay and buy her time with her sons. Tessie is self-insured and now a single parent. She will not be able to work during treatment.
They need our help.
It's hard to comprehend how misfortune of this magnitude finds its way to a family who has given so much to help others. Please consider signing up (click on) for The Sylvester Family Meal Train or donating to John and Tessie’s Sylvester Joy & Sunshine Fund. We encourage you to share these links with your social network and faith community. Thank You!
