MU’s Player Code of Conduct


As a soccer player with Minneapolis United Soccer Club (“MU”), you have made a commitment to yourself, your teammates, your coaches, your parents, and the club. You have a responsibility to represent all entities, including yourself, in a positive fashion at all times. As a player with MU, you are expected to:

  • Train and play to the best of my abilities

  • Have a positive attitude and never quit

  • Respect my coach, teammates, parents, and opponents

  • Respect officials and accept their decision without question

  • Give positive encouragement to fellow teammates

  • Notify the coach of any injuries or discomfort

  • Learn to obey the laws of the game, the team, and the club

  • Notify the coach or team manager if I will be tardy or unable to attend practice, game, or team meeting

  • Arrive prepared for all games and training sessions with proper mental attitude

  • Arrive prepared for all games and training session wearing proper game and training attire and having appropriate gear (shin guards, ball, water)

Players should never:

  • Allow my enthusiasm and commitment for soccer to override my responsibilities to my development as a person and athlete

  • Use vulgar language or rude physical gestures

  • Leave the field or a session without the permission of the coach

  • Use any form of drugs, alcohol or tobacco (medication prescribed by a physician is approved)

  • Leave trash at the fields / facility

  • Forget that I represent more than just myself

The head coach of each MU team is the first point of contact and will communicate any issues to the Club’s leadership. The player and family will hear directly from the coach. If needed, the player and family will also hear from the club’s leadership in the form of a Director of Coaching and/or the Executive Director. MU reserves the right to any sanctions in the form of warning, suspension or expulsion.
