Board of Directors

Minneapolis United board meetings are generally held the first Sunday or Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. MU's board meetings are in-person. The time, date and location changes from time-to-time, so please email the President of the Board for details. Board Meetings are open to the public. If you would like to attend and discuss an issue with the board, contact the MU President of your intentions a minimum of 3 days before the meeting. The President will provide meeting details. The first 15 minutes of each board meeting will be dedicated to questions, comments, concerns.

Las reuniónes de la junta de Minneapolis United generalmente se llevan a cabo el primer domingo o lunes del mes a las 6:30pm. Desde Covid, las reuniones de la junta de MU han sido en persona y organizados en Zoom. La hora, la fecha y el lugar cambian de vez en cuando, así que envíe un correo electrónico al Presidente para obtener más detalles. Las reuniones están abiertas al público. Se desea asistir y discutir un tema con la junta, comuníquese con el presidente de MU sobre sus intenciones al menos 3 días antes de la reunión. MU Board of Directors Committees:

Committees meet once per month and are made up of volunteer board members and MU staff. Governance is the only committee comprised of only board members. The Executive Committee is for MU's elected "officials" and MU's Executive Director. Those positions are: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and Governance Chair. 

  • Advancement: Donations, fundraising and sponsorships
  • Communications: Website, newsletters, social media
  • Competitive: All things related to the Competitive side of the Club
  • Executive: Oversight of MU staff, board members and committees
  • Facilities: Facility usage, future facility research, MPRB relations
  • Finance: Audit preparation, budget creation, fiscal oversight and reconciliations
  • Governance: Board and club oversight, upholding MU bylaws
  • Recreation:  All things related to the Recreation side of the Club

Join the Board

The Minneapolis United Board of Directors considers new members for key volunteer roles and board committees on an ongoing basis. Members interested in service on the MU Board typically begin the process in the early spring and are elected in the summer.

Are you interested in helping shape the future of one of the largest and fastest growing soccer clubs in the state of Minnesota? 

Minneapolis United now has over 70 traveling teams providing soccer for 1000 youth in our competitive program and 1200+ children in our summer Recreational soccer program. 

Board Members

Commitment required:  One Board meeting per month and one committee meeting per month - committee work level depends on the particular committee and is often seasonal.

Committee Members

Opportunities: The board is divided into the following committees:

  • Governance-ensures board effectiveness and compliance
  • Communications-establishes and supports high quality information sharing
  • Advancement-stewards fundraising and sponsorship resources
  • Fields & Facilities-develops resources for club infrastructure needs
  • Competitive Program- coordinates "traveling" program offerings
  • Recreational Program-coordinates opportunities for recreational play

Backgrounds desired:  

The following backgrounds are currently of particular value to the organization:

  • Marketing and Social Media
  • Legal
  • Human Resources

Minimal exposure to or experience in soccer will not exclude a candidate.

This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity. We would love to hear from you.  If you are interested and think you can contribute, we invite you to jump in and join the Board or just get your feet a little wet by volunteering to serve as a non Board committee member or as a project-specific volunteer.  Please submit your letter of interest by e-mail to the Club's President.  Please include the following in your email: name, contact information, history of involvement with Minneapolis United, professional and/or soccer background, area of expertise you bring to the board and why you are interested in joining the MU board.
