Our Winter Training...

...Program separates MU from other Clubs due to the facilities secured, quality trainers and developmentally appropriate agendas. Greg Wheaton will directs the program with Zafer Kilickan, John Sylvester, Tamba Johnson, and Mike Navarre highlighting an all-star cast of teachers. This year, MU’s Winter Program will train 500 kids at the Skills Training each week. There is no additional cost for MU’s Winter Training for those MU players who have registered / paid for the Spring, 2008 Traveling Soccer Season. Winter Training starts mid-November and continues weekly through mid-March. Two high quality programs will be offered:

FIT and Keeper training

This year we added sessions of FIT training, to help develop players agility, fitness, and speed.

We also had Keeper training for those very precious tenders of the goal.

*For liability reasons, no child can participate if they have not first registered for MU’s Spring Traveling Program.

  1. Skills Trainingwhich will runs mid November to mid March 15 — is a high-quality, weekly teaching clinic held at the climate controlled Augsburg College Bubble (94 and Riverside). Participants will wear outdoor cleats (top quality turf). Sessions are 90 minutes long and teams will be assigned to Saturday afternoons, Sunday afternoons or Tuesday evenings. Similar to last year, there will be two Skills Training offerings: “Dedicated” and “Standard”. Teams can choose which program they will participate in during the registration period (October).
    • Dedicated Training Program: Teams that want to train at a higher level and who’s members are “dedicated” to regular attendance can choose this program. Team in this program will be assigned a dedicated, professional trainer throughout the winter and that team’s agenda will be custom crafted for that team’s needs (Coaches will be an important part of this process).
    • Standard Training Program: Teams not in the Dedicated Program will be in the Standard Program. Training groups will be formed based on age / developmental level and the target training ratio will be 15:1. Greg Wheaton will craft the agenda for participants in this program.
