The MU Juniors program is for boys & girls born 2018 & 2019

MU Juniors is a program designed to foster a love of soccer in your child and teach them a little bit more about the sport, their peers, and themselves. At this early age, touches on the ball is critical. We will be utilizing a high ball-to-child ratio whenever possible - ensuring that every player has the greatest opportunity to practice moving and manipulating the ball. During this six-week course we will be utilizing the new training model endorsed by the US Soccer Federation: Play-Practice-Play. You will notice that every session begins with small-sided games, transition into more structured technical instruction, and transition back into play. Each session will be guided by a question such as “How Do I Move the Ball?” Players will be thinking about different aspects of soccer each week - learning about how the mechanics of the game work and values such as sportsmanship, determination, and persistence

At this young age, children have a lot to learn, and we recognize that soccer skills are only one aspect of the sport that we can teach. MU is committed to social-emotional learning and has consulted both elementary educators and MU competitive coaches to strike the right balance of teaching soccer skills and social skills in the MU Juniors curriculum.

Sessions are coached by older MU team players who will be mentored by an MU trainer.

Session Two
     Sundays, Feb 18, 25, Mar 3, 10, 17, 24         
          Times: 12:30pm to 1:30pm // Boys and Girls 2018 & 2019
          March 10th will run from 2:30pm to 3:30pm
          Cost: $115 (includes a tshirt)
          Maximum capacity: 60 players

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

This expanded rec soccer offering is supplemental to the summer program and is intended to provide an opportunity for boys and girls with birth years 2012-2017 to continue playing ‘the beautiful game’ during the long winter months and to gain experience with targeted skills development under the direction of MU’s trainers. As with the summer Rec program, the focus of MU Winter Rec Skills Clinic is having FUN and enjoying the game.  MU coaches/trainers will lead each session
 

Program Format:

• 10 minutes of 4v4 small sided games
• 20-25 minutes of technical training (dribbling, passing)
• 10-15 minutes of 1v1, 2v2 going to pugg goals
• 15 minutes of 4v4 small sided games

Details

• This program is open to boys and girls with birth years 2012 to 2017
• Players should wear cleats and bring a soccer ball and water

This program is a unique training program which focuses on one of the most exciting and important aspects in the game of soccer  - SCORING GOALS! This training program will focus on all the key skills required to be a top goal scorer and will help players improve their finishing ability in all different situations.  Players who are serious about improving their goal scoring abilities and want to hit the target more should sign up for this program.

Footwork/Balance
Ball Handling/Boxing
Diving/BreakAways
Shot Stopping/Crosses
Angles/Distribution.
The main focus will be on technical player development.

What to bring/wear each week:

Shinguards: MANDATORY for ALL players of every age. Must be completely covered by long socks.

Soccer shoes: Soccer cleats are recommended. Sneakers are also fine.  (Make sure the cleats are not football or baseball cleats)

Water - Please bring plenty of water. Only water is allowed onto the turf field - do not bring sports drinks or glass containers.

No Jewelry allowed. Eyeglasses should be secured with a headband. 

Soccer Ball: All players should bring a fully-inflated soccer ball to each session.

• Pre-K to 2nd grade = Size 3
• 3rd to 6th grade = Size 4
• 7th grade and older = Size 5

All refunds for any reason except injury will be charged a $20 processing fee.
