Please help support a fundraising effort for our beloved former girls coaching director and coach, John Sylvester and Gavin Pugh. Both have been diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) and are in the mid-stages of the disease, both in a wheelchair and facing major medical expenses coming up. They have both been very active in the Minnesota Soccer Community for many years as coaching directors, ODP coaches, High School coaches, MYSA Clinicians, Professional Players with the Minnesota Thunder and well respected and well liked coaches who brought a lot of honor to our game.
THE CHRISTMAS FUNDRAISING CAMP will be held at Champions Hall in Eden Prairie (off of Highway 169 and Crosstown) Mon., December 29 – Thurs., Jan 1st (4 days) from 9:30AM-12:00PM, costs is $100. This is a great chance for your player to get out of the house after Christmas and the Holidays, get some exercise and get away from the electronics!! It will be a great soccer camp with lots of Skill Training, Skill Competitions and a running Tournament so players will get plenty of playing time!

Minneapolis United’s Travel Soccer Program has experienced significant success and growth over the past several years. To better position the Club for continued future success, the Board is adjusting the structure of the coaching directors. Historically, the Club has been divided into a Boys Program and a Girls Program with a coaching director responsible for the quality and success of each program. With significant growth, MU now has in excess of 60 traveling teams. The Board feels that 30+ teams are too many for a single coaching director to adequately oversee. So, effective immediately, the Board will realign the coaching directors to be responsible for specific playing levels. The Board believes that the new structure will enhance the development and success of all players and teams.
At the Premier and C1 playing levels, the Club recognizes the tremendous success the Boys Program has had over the last several years culminating in 2014 with 7 boys’ teams playing in the State Cup Finals and 5 boys’ teams advancing to Regionals. Tamba Johnson has been asked to build upon the success he has achieved with the boys teams by also taking on responsibility for the development and success of the girls Premier and C1 teams.
One of the takeaways the Board received from the club wide survey conducted last year was that C2 and C3 players want a higher quality offering that provides tailored training and playing opportunities that are more consistent across teams. To accomplish this goal, the Board is pleased to announce that Ben Linder will be the new C2/C3 Coaching Director focusing exclusively on needs and development of C2 & C3 players and teams. If you are not familiar with Ben, he has a long history of playing and coaching soccer. The Board recognizes that MU’s future success is dependent upon the development of its youngest players. To enhance the development and success of our youngest players, the Board will be adding a new coaching director that will focus exclusively on U11 and younger player development.

Special recognition to Suad Suljic as he was named Metro Player of the year and All-American. His recognition continues MU's streak of Boys Player's of the year. Suad joins Zach Nieburger (2013 Metro Player of year, 2013 Mr. Soccer, State Gatorade player of year, NSCAA All-American) and Elliot Cassutt (2012 Mr Soccer, Pioneer press player of the year , State Gatorade player of year, NSCAA All-American, State's All Time Leading Scorer) as recent MU Players of the year.
