Greetings MU Summer Rec Soccer,
Governor Walz’s office has turned the dial once again to allow for more liberties with youth sports. While MU is prepared to safely return to play, the thirst of human interaction is strong. MU will be controlling spaces on the field. However, you control many aspects like the walk between the parking lot and the field, parents chatting at a social distance, not carpooling, ensuring your child stays home if sick, etc. Please help ensure that MU runs a healthy and safe program which will take each and every family’s assistance. Remember to talk with your child(ren) about safety precautions. While exciting, it also comes with some nerves and modifications this year.
MU healthy and safe guidelines:
Schedules will be modified to allow for time in between games. The rationale is to limit people crossing over at the fields at one time.
Less fields at one time will be used to enable more room to spread out.
Dropoff and parking locations will be provided by MU. Please adhere to these directions.
Players can NOT be dropped off more than 10 minutes before their scheduled start time.
Players must be picked up and depart Pearl Park immediately upon completion of their scheduled time. No lingering to hang out to see friends.
No carpooling to the fields.
Stay home if sick.
Spectators from different households must be 6 to 10 feet apart from each other on the sidelines.
Spectators will utilize three sides of the field. (The fourth side of the field is for teams.)
Please limit spectators at games. In the past, games were a gathering and time to be with extended family. Now we ask that unless acting as guardians for the night, keep those gatherings for personal time.
Bring your own water bottle and hand sanitizer.
No shared “team snacks” after games / practices.
Masks are optional for players and spectators.
Coaches have been provided with instruction as well. Of those, coaches will:
Wear masks during the entire session.
Keep the players 6 to 10 feet apart on the sidelines when not playing.
Be the only individuals touching/handling gear (EX: cones).
To say life has been difficult the past few months would be a massive understatement. We are so excited to see the MU Summer Rec community back on the fields! We are going to want to “high 5”, chat, hug, mourn the loss of George Floyd and celebrate being back on the field. For now, these actions must take place at a safe distance. Please help ensure that MU Summer Rec has a healthy and safe return to the fields.
